How to recover from EAP file integrity problem
« on: August 29, 2002, 08:02:44 am »
We use EA in the team software developement and are concurrently accessing the EAP file on our file server. Recently, as the project grows, we face the problem of frequent data corruption events (invalid database format, no current record and other EA/Jet engine error messages). If this happens, I try to do Repair on the file, but even if the repair succeeds (not always), some data (objects) is lost. The problem is probably in our network/file server but is there anybody else with such an experience ?

Thanks for Your advice
Hynek

Hello,

Yes their are other users that experience the same problem and usually the problem is caused by a slow or poor performing file server.   Probably the easiest thing to do (assuming you have one) is to move the EAP file to a more efficient file server.

Hi, we also have the same problem with jet engine messages.  Did you manage how to solve the problem ?

Thanks

...not yet, unfortunately (time reason :).
Also, we have encountered similar problems with our Microsoft SourceSafe database files (CRC checksum errors)...

There is a thread related to the same problem, see http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=general&action=display&num=1033570412
