Spreykt du franglais?
« on: April 13, 2010, 10:13:37 am »
I have commented before on how well some people on this forum write English when it is not their native language. Other people, however, find it a problem, and I often wonder how they get full value from the advice that is offered on the forum.

If you think you cannot ask your question properly in English, or you can't understand the information provided, perhaps you could also type your short question in your own language and/or ask if someone on the forum can translate for you?

I realise that the scripts and alphabets of some languages might not allow that, but if you typed in English something like "I am Xhosa, help me?" someone might be able to help.

I recognise words in many languages, but to read or write on a site in anything other than English would be far beyond me. I have a lot of patience for those who can't understand my language, but have a good try anyway.
Best Regards, Roy

Well, I've been told I speak fluent Rubbish...  Does that count?

Anyway, excellent post and I endorse your comments.  One reason we long timers are sticking with EA (in spite of EA) is the helpfulness of the user forum...  Perhaps you could put a stick note with comments in various languages to prompt new users.

So that would mean we would do something like:

[/sort_of_french]

ROFL. That's definitely the most used language all over the world.

@Roy: Though I think this is a good advice it will definitely be lost in the depth of the board over time. Maybe you could write a common sticky post with netiquette for this board (don't forget to place RTFM on top).

Yes! A very good idea, I already mentioned s.th. similar in the "where is main?" thread.
