Lining up labels, not their elements
« on: August 21, 2007, 09:20:34 am »
Please provide a way to select several elements (say three interfaces or three ports) and automatically line up the labels for the elements. I'm looking for a quick way to tidy up drawings. So far, I have to select and manually resize or move each label, which is tedious on a complex drawing.

And subject to arbitrary rearrangment (randomization?) when you adjust the diagram...
No, you can't have it!

I wrote an add-in to do similar things to exposed interfaces (the layout does not respect them). It was fairly easy.

That brings me to just another idea. Instead of creating more and more intrinsic functions EA should support add-ins in a better way. So you could have your own modifiable set of e.g. layout macros.

I like to think that the (currently ongoing) separation of automation-related stuff into an SDK suggests Sparx is working to do just that. [Of course, as with many things I like there might be a limited supply.]
