Scripts submenus
« on: October 10, 2017, 12:54:54 am »
Hi,

We use a number of package and diagram scripts for a project which we prefixed by type.
A right click on a package or diagram displays a big list which I'd like to reduce with an additional level

Is this supported in EA?

e.g.
Current list:
Type1_Script1
Type1_Script2
Type1_Script3
Type1_Script4
Type2_Script5
Type2_Script6
Type2_Script7
Type2_Script8
...

Needed list:
Type 1
Type 2

Select Type 1:
Script1
Script2
Script3
Script4

No, it's not currently possible to have nested script groups.

Hi Aaron,

I submitted it as a feature request. Do you see this as a possible/feasible feature to have in EA?

Thanks
Guillaume

Hi Guillaume,

This doesn't specifically address your issue, but with Add-Ins you can create sub-menus of arbitrary depth. So a workaround would be to rewrite your scripts in C# and deploy them as an Add-In. I think Geert has some thing that allows you to run scripts from an Add-In, which might reduce the effort required.

But I agree that there should be some form of grouping in the script context menus. At the moment, MDG Technology browser/diagram script groups get flattened. There should be one submenu for each script group in the MDG Technology.

My theories are always correct, just apply them to the right reality.

Hi Uffe,

Thank you for the tip. However the reason why we use scripts on this project is to overcome addins installation issues on each user's PC. Scripts are easy to maintain and update via the centralised project.
Hopefully this feature request can be taken into account at some point (for xmas...)
