Title: ARIS import/export
Post by: Zaid on January 18, 2011, 11:13:31 pm
Hi All

Can someone please advise if I can import business processes from ARIS into Enterprise Architect, and export use cases / context diagrams from Enterprise Architect into ARIS

Thanks

Zaid,

I suggest to search the forums for the keyword "aris".
There are quite some topics regarding importing/exporting from and to Aris.

PS. use the top left search button

I did a search before I posted. All I found was an earlier post where I mentioned that our BA's use it.

Did you select all forums and all posts?
I found a whole bunch of topics.

I wrote an ARIS importer for a customer a while ago. It was no fun. In theory you can find matching elements, but in practice it needs a whole lot of hand work after the import.

No. You can't have the code.

Hi,

Reopening this old thread as I'm currently looking at way to import ARIS XML extracts (using "ARIS-Export.dtd"), I was wondering if at the end you imported elements only, or also some of the diagrams with matching positions and sizes?

Thanks

I imported just the elements.

Thanks for the reply.

Based on an old version of ARIS DTD https://github.com/stavnstrup/nisp2aris/blob/master/ARIS-Export.dtd (https://github.com/stavnstrup/nisp2aris/blob/master/ARIS-Export.dtd), and an XML ARIS extract I got, it seems to handle diagram content with objects and not actual elements such as processes, actors, etc.

To your knowledge, should there be a different export to run from ARIS?

Sorry, too long ago. I grabbed one format, figured out what it was and then pulled over what was needed. This was a one-shot.
