Suggestions and Requests / Insert other field types in RTF-template
« on: June 04, 2005, 01:04:08 pm »
I would like to be able to insert other fields in the RTF-template, e.g. index, table of figures, etc.

Suggestions and Requests / Formatting RTF-output
« on: June 04, 2005, 01:07:36 pm »
I'd also like to see a more generic way to format output according to simple expressions/comparisons, e.g.

if Att.IsOrdered equals '1' print 'yes' else print 'no'

This would be really great (though I'm worried I might be asking too much too quickly).

Suggestions and Requests / More exposed object model stuff
« on: June 04, 2005, 01:00:06 pm »
I would really like to see more of the object model stuff exposed for automated printing in the RTF-template document generation.

As it stands now there is still alot more that could be included.

General Board / How much to upgrade
« on: November 16, 2005, 12:49:39 am »
I currently have a license for EA Corporate v5_772  (which never expires).

If I upgrade to version 6, do I need to purchase a different license?

Thanks alot in advance.

General Board / Text Protection error.
« on: June 03, 2005, 05:07:34 am »
After I have made some changes to the RTF-template and run a generate, I get the following error message:

Code: [Select]
Text Protection error.

This selection contains protected text.

I press the [OK]-button and this is repeated a million times and then the only way to get out of this infinite loop is to abort and then kill EA altogether via the task manager.

Can a kind EA-representative help me with this one please?

Thanks alot in advance.

General Board / Connectivity problems
« on: June 07, 2005, 12:21:09 pm »
Has anyone else noticed that this domain times out regularly?

During some periods of the day my browser fails with the error that www.sparxsystems.com cannot be found, but if I refresh enough times I can finally reach it again.

Just wondering is all.

General Board / New RTF-document fixes, when and how
« on: June 04, 2005, 12:55:39 pm »
Hi there, I noticed that in the latest v5.00.766 upgrade that a number of fixes for the RTF-document (generation) have been made.

Does this mean that for all existing repositories the new fixes will take effect, or do they only start to work once a brand-new repository is created from scratch?

Thanks again for the quick service.

General Board / RTF - additional table column fields needed
« on: May 25, 2005, 05:18:34 am »
I have created a data model with a number of tables.

I see that in EA the table columns are defined as attributes, and each column has a name, data type, description. Also each column is defined with a primary key (yes/no), not null (yes/no) and unique (yes/no).

By going to the [Class | Table Detail | Columns/Attributes... | General]-tab I see a list at the bottom that displays this info for each column.

I would like to create an RTF-document which per package element attribute also showing in the table:

- is a PK
- is a FK (if yes, to where)
- is mandatory (not null)
- is unique

How can I do this?

General Board / Virtual documents
« on: May 26, 2005, 12:49:10 am »
I was excited to try out the virutal document stuff, but it appears that only the legacy RTF-documents interface is available.

Is this true or have I overlooked something?

General Board / Where is the eatest.eap file?
« on: May 27, 2005, 01:58:10 am »
I want to have a look at the VB sample project, but it requires a file called eatest.eap somewhere.

Where can I find this file?

General Board / Documenting the whole darn tree
« on: May 25, 2005, 08:49:17 am »
Whatever I try, I just cannot seem to get the RTF-document to generate down the whole darn tree.

I have the following situation.

View (project root)
+ Project (package)
++ Model 1 (package)
+++Diagram 1-1 (diagram)
+++Diagram 1-2
...
+++Diagram 1-n
+++Object 1-1 (table)
+++Object 1-2
...
+++Object 1-n
etc.

It seems that whichever node I start on, the document only goes down max 1 level.

How can I iterate through the whole tree so that everything is printed in the document, including indentation and toc details?

Thanks alot in advance.

General Board / Moving elements in the RTF-editor
« on: May 24, 2005, 12:10:50 pm »
I don't know if anyone else has noticed it already, but moving elements up and down in the RTF-editor often goes terribly wrong. Bummer.

This happens so regularly that I have given up even attempting to change the positions of the element tags.

For example, create a new template derived from the basic template, and then try to move the attributes table to before the requirements element.

On the way up you'll noticed that it gets engulfed in the defect table and upon continuing it then disappears completely.  :(

Will this get fixed?

General Board / What happened to the diagrams?
« on: May 22, 2005, 04:38:33 am »
If I generate an RTF-document, I can see the diagrams plainly. However, when I send them as attachments to the boss, he only sees placeheolders (and grumbles a bit).

What setting do I need to change this?

Also, if I indert links within my RTF-documents, do I have to also send the linked documents along with the attachement or is there an easier way to always have the linked contents actually part of the original document.

Thanks alot in advance.

General Board / Alternate link endpoints based on mulitiplicity
« on: May 19, 2005, 12:17:26 pm »
Is it possible to define other associations endpoints depending on multiplicities?

I'm thinking about the single, optional, optional-to-many and one-to-many relationships traditional to text-book database diagrams:

+----- for 1

o----- for 0,1

>+---- for 1..*

>o---- for 0..*

Is this possible? (sorry if the schematic drawings above look ugly, but hopefully you know what I mean).
