Sparx Systems and ICONIX Software Engineering are pleased to announce a series of public classes entitled "Hands-on Enterprise Architect for Power Users". These two-day events, to be taught in approximately 15 major cities within the US and internationally, will be personally taught by ICONIX President and noted author Doug Rosenberg.
Students will work on the design for the "Internet Bookstore" example featured in Mr. Rosenberg's book "Use Case Driven Object Modeling, Theory and Practice" in a lab-intensive workshop, starting from requirements and use cases, and following the various steps in ICONIX Process, all the way down to generation of code headers using Enterprise Architect. ICONIX Process is a minimalist, streamlined approach to use case driven UML modeling which uses a core subset of UML diagrams and techniques to provide thorough coverage of object-oriented analysis and design while avoiding analysis paralysis.
ICONIX UML JumpStart Training provides focused, intensive lecture/lab workshops that include hands-on experience using Enterprise Architect, and lab time devoted to YOUR specific project.
ICONIX instructors are experts in using Enterprise Architect and, while driving EA in the lab, their instructors will teach you valuable techniques to make your team more effective and efficient users of Enterprise Architect.
JumpStart Training reinforces the concepts learned in lecture by applying the methods learned to your real project in the lab--a valuable and practical benefit to your training team. Materials are learned and retained better by the students since it's relevant to the team project, directly applied to the project, and there is no "down time" before applying the information learned.
In our training classes you get real project work done, become more effective with Enterprise Architect and become proficient in UML modeling using the ICONIX process.
The Agile/ICONIX Add-In for Enterprise Architect streamlines the ICONIX modeling process, providing:
- Convenient modeling of robustness diagrams
- Automatic generation of sequence diagram structures from robustness diagrams
- Transformation of robustness control elements to test diagrams
- Built-in model validation rules for ICONIX robustness diagrams
Use Case Driven Object Modeling with UML--Theory and Practice
Use Case Driven Object Modeling with UML--Theory and Practice shows how to drive an object-oriented software design from use case all the way through coding and testing, based on the minimalist, UML-based ICONIX process. In addition to a comprehensive explanation of the foundations of the approach, the book makes extensive use of examples and provides exercises at the back of each chapter.
This book leads by example. It demonstrates common analysis and design errors, shows how to detect and fix them, and suggests how to avoid making the same errors in the future. The book also encourages you to examine its UML examples and to search for specific errors. You'll get clues, then later receive the answers during "review sessions" toward the end of the book.
The book's website, www.iconixprocess.com, includes resources for university professors and further information about the ICONIX Process.
Below is a profile to install an ICONIX Process Roadmap and an ICONIX Skeleton Project upon creating a new project. There is also a white paper explaining how to use these capabilities, which facilitate the use of a lightweight, agile, use case driven UML development process.
