Problems Downloading Enterprise Architect
Some users have reported difficulties in downloading EA, this may be caused by a variety of factors.

In situations where EA will not download, right click on the hyperlink to the file and select Save Target As. If this is not successful it is possible that the file is attempting to retrieve an incomplete version of EA which may be located in the users Internet cache and/or the users temporary directory. To resolve this issue clean out the cache and delete the EA file in the temporary directory and download the install file again.

Some companies have firewalls in place which limit the size of downloaded files or limit port access to port 1812. You may need to check with your network administrator to determine if this is the case. In this situation you may need to download the file from a point that is outside this firewall or have you administrator increase you file size limit or unblock the port.

If the download has been interrupted, begin the file download again.

EA will not install
Some users report installation issues when installing EA, before installing EA please verify that the file size of the downloaded file matches the file size of the file located on the Sparx Systems web site.

Updating EA with New Version fails with Patch File
When a new major release of EA is made available, EA requires a full install of the software rather than using the patch files. This situation arises when transferring from a version number i.e. ver 3.60 to 4.00 or 4.00 to 4.1.

Once a full installation has been completed it is possible for registered user to apply patch files to update builds i.e. build 730 to build 731. Registered users can download the patch file from /registered/reg_ea_down.htm.

Fatal Error Initializing DAO Library
On rare occasions users have received the error message "Fatal error initializing DAO Library: Try reinstalling Enterprise Architect. If you still experience problems please contact Support". This occurs due to corrupted or incorrect versions of the dependency files of the Dao350.dll. To manually ensure the required DAO library is registered use the following instructions:

  1. Locate the Dao350.dll file, and then note the path to the file. Typically, this file is in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DAO folder.
  2. Click Start on the Windows task bar, and then click Run.
  3. In the Open box, type the following command, and then click OK to register Dao350.dll

    Regsvr32.exe "path\Dao350.dll" where path is the path to the Dao350.dll file.
