Enterprise Architect Install Process via Crossover

Enterprise Architect can be installed on both the Linux and Intel Mac platforms using the commercially available Windows compatibility layer, Crossover by CodeWeavers.

This page describes the requirements and procedures for installing Enterprise Architect using Crossover. Screens shown in this page may vary slightly depending on your operating system.

Prerequisites

Both the Trial and Registered versions of Enterprise Architect require the following applications to be installed first, in the listed sequence:

  1. CodeWeavers' Crossover version 6.2 (or later)
  2. Microsoft DCOM98
  3. Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0
  4. Microsoft Data Access Components 2.7 (MDAC)

Procedures

This document contains the following sections:

  1. Install Crossover 6.2
  2. Create New Win98 Bottle
  3. Install DCOM98
  4. Install Internet Explorer 6.0
  5. Install MDAC 2.7
  6. Install Microsoft Fonts (Optional)
  7. Install ODBC Drivers (Optional)
  8. Install Enterprise Architect
  9. Update EA to Latest Build under Crossover

Notes:

  • EA and its prerequisite applications must use a dedicated Win98 bottle; ensure you create this and make it the default separate from any other bottles available.
  • The Crossover Configuration Manager identifies software you have already loaded to the system; if you already have prerequisite software loaded, ensure that it is the correct version and that it has any required settings identified in the procedures listed above (including being installed in the same WIN98 bottle).
  • MDAC and EA are not automatically downloaded by CrossOver; you must download the .exe files to an appropriate directory on the system.
  • You can download the appropriate .exe file for EA from the links at the top of this topic.
  • You can download the .exe file for MDAC 2.7 from here (download size 5.1 MB)
  • If any step in this process fails, please repeat the step; if you still have no success, contact the appropriate application support.
