Restored .EAP file from backup cannot be opened
Some users receive an error message "Fatal Error: The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file <file path here> It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data."
This is caused by having the file flagged as read only (which can occur when backing up from CD ROM). Use the following steps to flag the file as readable.

  • To mark the file as readable, copy the file to hard disk.
  • Right click on the file to bring up its context menu.
  • Click on the Properties Menu item.
  • Find the check box Read-only and ensure that it is not ticked.
