Title: Page border indication in diagram
Post by: Steven on November 10, 2010, 08:49:31 pm
It does happen that I make a rather large diagram or a long requirements list that they span multiple pages. At the moment I have to organize the elements such that for instance a requirement is not printed on 2 pages. This is a pain because I can only see this with the print example, move the elements, print example, move an element, print example, etc, etc till the page looks good.

What I would like to see is an option where I can select within a diagram whether I can see the page borders or not. When I can see a page border it will be easier for me to organise my elements without using the print-example such that my first print will immediately look good.

Still using the 7.5 version so if this is solved within 8 then I will have another argument to go to 8.

Steven,

That feature already existed in 6.5 (and maybe before).
Go to diagram properties, tab Diagram, and tick "show page border"

Geert

PS. Searching the manual for "page border" would have shown you this.

This page border is exactly the paper size and is NOT the size of the area that is going to be printed on a page. This page border on the diagram does not take into consideration things like margins, headers and footers, etc. You can see this when you place an element close to this "page border" and then go for print example or just print it. There is a very good chance that your element is printed on two pages.

So let me rephrase the question: is there a option to show what area is actually printed on a page.

By default EA shows on a diagram where the page boundaries are.
However in looking at this I have found diagrams where the page boundary is not shown, and I have no idea why.

This is still an issue in EA 11

Oh. That shifts the mean time to fix beyond the 2 year limit as suggested in the other thread.

I've the same issue in EA 15.2
I cannot find the option to show the page border.
How can I turn this on?

Uncheck the third checkbox in the image.

Hide Page Border (All Diagrams)
