Title: hybrid scripting, first steps
Post by: ngong on January 10, 2019, 10:08:19 pm
Last year SPARX Systems has released a 1.0 version of a document called Hybrid Scripting. It comes with an example for Java programming language. I am on EA 14.1 and gave it a try, without success. Is someone out the who ran the documented Java example out-of-the-box? On my installation it did not find pathes, it assumes EA to be installed in a specific location ...

Did I overlook something?

Any help welcome.

p.s. The restriction to 32-bit Java for my opinion contradicts the introductory sentence: "... allows script authors to leverage
existing skills ...". Java language has gone far beyond 1.7 version. And 32-bit Java ran out of maintenance.

Hi Rolf,

on https://community.sparxsystems.com/community-resources/1219-use-java-c-co-for-your-scripting you find everything you need to start with Scripting in Java. The article links to Github with:
- EA model
- Java code
- A VB Script (code) to call the Java Class from EA
- WiKi, most is C# related but there is also a Java example (running)

Regarding paths: You have to make sure that the JDK, bin folder is within the environment variable %PATH%.

If you have question, advice or improvement don't hesitate to contact me.

Best regard,

Helmut

Thanks Helmut. Still no easy, but we can talk.
@Java32 - I leave it to Sparx whether to thoroughly support Java. If not ... I would recommend to support the Java community.
