Title: Exporting EA model into HTML - Browser Compatibility Issues
Post by: Andrew Mitchell on March 01, 2021, 08:49:26 am
Hi,

I'm looking for a way to export my EA model into HTML so I can share it.
I've been using the Publish > HTML option.
I have been finding (as other have reported https://sparxsystems.com/forums/smf/index.php?topic=17655.0 and https://www.sparxsystems.com/forums/smf/index.php?topic=38894.0) that I cannot use the HTML files easily.
My problem is that the likely audience for my files are not going to want to install IE11 or add extensions.
Is there any way around this?

Andrew,

The problem is not the browser, but the fact that modern browsers don't allow you to visit a website from your local files.
If you publish the html export on a web-server (IIS, sharepoint) it can be viewed.

Alternative is to startup chrome with a parameter to load from local files "C:\PathTo\Chrome.exe" --allow-file-access-from-files
That parameter disables the security feature in Chrome.

Geert is right and I use that parameter to view my EA generated HTML in Chrome.

However, if you have the latest version of Windows 10 with Edge Chromium (latest version Version 88.0.705.81), there appears to be no way to view EA generated HTML located in local files.

So I use Chrome or even IE  to view my EA generated HTML.
