Suggestions and Requests / Re: Internal Transtions
« on: March 22, 2010, 06:03:42 pm »
Thanks for your response GŁnther,

"nice" to hear that you experienced the same problem.
I think Sparx should realy solver this, because big statemachines are almost useless without internal transitions.

Best regards

Thanks for your answer, but that would only be a work-around.
A internal transition should be created like any other transition. If I create an operation I cannot add any guards or effects unless I put it into the behavior-code. The next problem is, that if you put the Trigger into the Action field of the operation, it is not created as Trigger.

I would like to see a change in the way internal transitions are
represented and created in statecharts.
Today, they look exactly like self-transitions and that is very confusing in large diagrams.
It would be great if the internal transitions can be created an will be displayed like the state actions (entry/do/exit).

Notation Example:

It would be great to see that already in Version 8 Beta 3 †;)

Is there any chance that the visual representation of internal transitions in state machine diagrams gets corrected for the final release of EA9? Currently there are no visual clues that allow to distinguish an internal transition from a self transition, which will result in a lot of misunderstanding if somebody just looks at the diagram.

Totally agree, this is a big deal in showing diagrams to other people, especially if they're used to other UML tools, that display internal transitions correct.

Thanks  Geert, it works.

General Board / Linking of statemachines
« on: September 16, 2010, 09:17:22 pm »

following situation:
  • Class diagramm with a lot of classes, that represent single applications of a system, each having a statemachine attached.
  • One Class is the Main-Class, containing a statechart that models the navigation from Main to the single applications.
  • Every application is represented as composite state in the Main statechart

What I want to achieve now, is, that on clicking one of the application composite states, the statechart of the application class is shown instead of the automatically created "composite" statechar. How can I do this ?

Thanks in advance and best regards

Thanks, that are great news.  :)

You're right, that's a strange behavior. :)
I'll report it as a bug.

Hi Geert,

thanks for your response. Unfortunately the created trigger objects are not reusable in other diagrams.
I've one class called A, that has a statemachine assigned as behavior. Trigger are created in this statemachine.
I now create a second class called B, with another statemachine. Now, I cannot use the Trigger created in statemachine A.

Kind regards

is it possible to define trigger in state-charts, that are available to all other statecharts in the model ?
It would be really helpful to create global trigger in one package of a model and use them in all other packages.

Thanks in advance

hi geert,

thanks for your response.
That's really disappointing, because it could be easily done.

i've †a question regarding the project explorer view.
Is it possible to display an different icon or text, when a class is a
subclass of another class, e.g. Class_B extends Class_A.

Thanks in advance and best regards

Hi GŁnther,

sorry, but I'am don't getting it. In the operations dialog I can
only add state operations like entry,do and exit.
What am I missing ?

Kind regards

Hello community,

is it possible to add internal transitions to a state in
a statemachine diagram. I didn't find a way to do that.
Can someone please help me ?

Ok, i've found the solution. Currently only Time and Change Triggers are supported.
