When showing a class in a diagram its attibutes can be made visible. When using a stereotype created by a shape script one can make it show single featuers like the name of the class or the name of the stereotype. I think there should be a way of showing the attibutes also when using a stereotype.
I have sent this as request to sparx.

General Board / Re: Creating DB sequences with EA?
« on: November 24, 2008, 11:24:16 pm »

what I found out in other (older) discourses was:

Already in EA 7.0.818 I can create Oracle Sequences:

1. Create a table (class) in EA
2. Create at least one column
3. For this column in 'column Properties' check 'AutoValue' and set 'start value' and 'increment'
4. To generate DDL check 'Generate Triggers' and 'Generate Sequences'

This lead to the wished result.

General Board / Creating DB sequences with EA?
« on: November 24, 2008, 06:48:22 pm »

with EA I can create Database tables (Oracle) and generate the DDL.

I tried to create / generate a sequence by creating a class (table) in EA and marking the option 'Generate Sequences' in the 'Generate DDL' window. The effect was the sql script which created a table not a sequence.

Do I really have the possibiliby to generate a seaquence with EA? If yes how is the way?

General Board / Re - define Database datatypes
« on: October 14, 2008, 05:27:54 pm »

I work with an Oracle Database and EA. Many (perhaps all) Oracle - Datataypes are defined in EA.
Do I have the possibility of re - defining these datatypes?
E.g. if I want to have for NUMBER a default of 9,0 instead of the predefined 8,2.

Does anybody know a way?

(And besides: Is there a possibility to change the tab behaviour? It would be nice to select the datatype -> tab to precision, then scale. Instead precision is skipped...)

General Board / import Database DDL into model
« on: October 10, 2008, 12:03:19 am »

as well as I can create ddl from a table in my model I would like to create a table from a database ddl into my model (like reverse engineering from source code).
Unfortunatly my ODBC - connectivity does not work so that I cannot directly import from the database.

Do I have the possibility of importing a ddl or can I only import directly from database?

General Board / text position in actions
« on: March 17, 2008, 09:12:06 pm »

I think this is quite a simple question:

Is it possible to place the description (name) of the action instead of the center position into the top position (in order to place other elements into the action)?

Or are actions in contrast to activities simply not meant to have elements in them?

General Board / Generate Namespaces
« on: March 05, 2008, 08:57:28 pm »

generate code and reverse engineer is a fine thing in EA.

But one thing probably I could not yet manage and that is generating the namespace of a class.

If I forward engineer a whole package it is no problem because the namespaces are simply ignored.
But if I want to generate a single class, it would not be bad to have the namespace generated - especially when generating code means that beside my class (in C# - Code) there is generated a second one without namespace.

In EA my classes are in packages equivalent to my namespace structure.
In Tools / Options / Source code engineering / C# the option 'Generate name spaces' is true.

What else can I do to make EA generate my namespaces?

General Board / Re: Symbol for composite element in stereotypes
« on: February 08, 2008, 04:33:40 am »
I tried out the given script from balutoo - first original, then with calling one or both parts with 'shape' instead of 'decoration', and calling one of them 'shape main'. But I always only see the shape that is first in the script.
What else may be wrong?

I think I have the same surroundings as balutoo (EA 7.816, Activity Diagram).

General Board / Re: Symbol for composite element in stereotypes

this topic is interesting for me too, and I have tried some things without success.
But I think there are some things not yet clear to me:

Code: [Select]
decoration composite
// draw your own glyph here...

Is the first line of the code something like a subshape?
I call a subshape with the method 'addsubshape(subshapeName, position1, position2). Do I call this thing equivalently? Or with another call?
Or - as you write that the decoration needs to be a top level section - do I have to write directly into the shape main? (What I have tried without success)
Or do I have to replace shape main with decoration composite?

And am I right that the thing 'hasproperty("iscomposite","true")' refers to the option 'Composite Element' in an element?

General Board / Re: change diagram properties in a whole project

Thanx, the XML - thing is rather easy and practicable.

General Board / Re: change diagram properties in a whole project

Many thanx for the answer - in most cases it in fact is so that I have edited the field in the dialog properties and can only change anything directly there.

But I have tried out your proposition of creating names in the Settings | People dialog and changing them in the tools | options by only using the dropdown.

I now understood you so that I have to change the names in the Settings | People dialog.

But here I can only create or delete a person, not choose or change one.
(Your proposition for future models I did not yet try out...)

General Board / change diagram properties in a whole project

is it possible to change the properties of all diagrams in a project?
(E.g. if suddenly I see that my name is wrongly written?)

General Board / generate sequence diagrams possible?
« on: February 05, 2008, 07:27:09 am »

I am not sure in how far it is realizable, especially if the code is complex - but is it possible to generate a sequence diagram from code?

General Board / Re: Stereotypes for actors possible?
« on: January 31, 2008, 06:24:57 am »
Yeah, that's the answer to my question. In a class-, activity-, ... - diagram I have got the option 'rectangle notation' with the possibility of including my stereotype.

But as the actor in a sequence diagram often is something else than a human being (a part of a program, a subsystem, ...) - wouldn't it make sense to have this option in a sequence diagram too?

General Board / Re: Stereotypes for actors possible?
« on: January 31, 2008, 03:04:03 am »
I know the option 'use rectangle' for example from use cases. But still I do not find it for actors.
(How can I put an image in here?)
Are we talking about the same subject? Is there perhaps another thing called actor?

(I hope I am not annoying too much)
