Using EA v14 to develop process maps. When adding a lane, it aligns with the pool; I am able to move the lane independent of the pool. Is it possible to lock the lane in place, so the lane cannot be moved?

General Board / Questions About User Account Administration

EA will become the tool to manage the organization's enterprise architecture. I'd like to know how are user accounts managed in v14 Server-based repository?

For example, user groups must have full access to package based on the group's department & view access to packages external to the department.

Are these rights managed at the Server level (i.e., the department's user account directory)? Or, at the application level?
If the latter, where can I find info about EA user account administration?


General Board / Display Attributes in Compartment

Using EA v14 to develop an ArchiMate model. When I add attributes to an element, they do not dislplay on the diagram, even though the Attributes box is checked on the Compartment Visiablity window.

How do I display the attribute on the diagram?

General Board / Requirement Property Window

Working with EA v14 - Server connection.

When my colleague selects a requirement & displays the property window (Alt+Enter),these property fields on the right side include Type, Status. Alias, package info etc.

When I select the same requirement, the property windows displays Requirements Settings [bold font] underneath are the Stereotype, Alias Status fields.

Why are different fields displaying?

General Board / Trying to Understand the Logic

I don't understand the relationship between the requirement element's Stereotype and Type field.
On the Element Property window, Type = Requirement Stereotype = Business Requirement. Type changes to Business Requirement. If I select Class as a type, and keep the same stereotype the colour of the element on diagram, no change in the stereotype.

What is the purpose of the Type field if the value changes based on the Stereotype value?


General Board / Audit Feature Question

We are a team of six members who recently started using EA v14, connecting the repository. Log in credentials are based on the Windows login username & password.

When I enable the Audit feature on my local computer, the audit feature displays information based on my changes. Changes from my colleagues do not display.

Is the ability to view changes from others based on user permissions? If not, any suggestions to resolve the issue are greatly appreciated.


General Board / Navigation Cell Behaviour

Using v.14, I am developing a Navigation page using the Navigation Cell option. Click a project name to display the project information diagram. The user is forced to perform another action to display the project location within the browser.

Is there a way to code the Navigation Cell object to perform its default action & display the projection location?

Linking the package as an element onto the diagram works, but the user interface tends to be cluttered & visually unappealing.

General Board / Project Browser Questions

In EA v.14 is it possible to change the Folder icon colour based on project browser structure? For example, the Parent folder icon is Blue > the Child folder icon is Beige.

Within our structure, certain root nodes are meant for internal use only (Sandbox, SOPs etc.). The other nodes are unit based, housing various business initiatives & will be available for viewing via the EA viewer.  How do I hide or lock the internal use root node from public viewing?


General Board / Style Sheet Not Functioning

Hello Geert,

Thanks for your reply. To change a style, I:

1. Right click on the style sheet, select Edit>Edit Style.
2. Ensure the Paragraph radio button is checked.
3. Highlight the style from the drop down list (e.g., Heading 1).
4. Click OK.
5. Right click on sheet to ensure a checkmark displays next to the Edit Style menu option;there is one.

From what I have read, the Document toolbar should display Heading 1 in the drop list below the Save icon. However, it does not. At that point I select Heading 1 from the list and apply the changes via the toolbar. I purposely change the colour it make it distinguishable for testing; (e.g., dark green).

First entry on the style sheet Heading 1 = Arial 22 Bold Dark Green [my changes].
Place the cursor somewhere else on the sheet. Select Heading 1
Second entry = Calibri 18 Bold Navy blue


General Board / Virtual Documents - Slightly Confused

Perhaps only related to EA v12.

The Documents Reports User Guide Jan 2019 indicates to create a Report Package and associate model documents to the package.
However, I cannot remove the Model Report template from the Report Package; consequently, templates attached to the respective model documents do not generate nor does the information from the model documents display in the generate document.

Same guide stipulates the "Master Document" is deprecated. When I change the Report Package stereotype to «master document», the Model Report template is greyed out, and the virtual document functionality works.

What is the purpose of the Report Package?

General Board / Problem With Style Sheets

Presently using EA v12 and having issues with updating templates based on style sheets.
I created a new sheet (TestStyleSheet), based on a system sheet (Print Large - Black). Make obvious changes. Increase Heading 1 to 72 and Dark Green.

Go to any template, right-click in the white space select File>Update Styles>TestStyleSheet.
No change whatsoever.

Am I missing a step?

If I change a style, I can update the respective template to reflect the change. How does that differ from applying the style sheet upon document generation?


General Board / Tagged Value Type Format

I'd like to create a custom tag value checklist, to associate a requirement too multiple user groups; in most instances, the value will be "All". Other instances may involve one or multiple groups; user checks accordingly.

Is it possible to assign a default value to a checklist by adding the "default=" to the Type=Checklist syntax?

If not, what other options are there to track the requirement to one or more groups.
