General Board / Re: HTML Export creating new objects all the time
« on: October 20, 2020, 10:00:50 pm »
Before exporting to HTML you should delete everything or you end up with a bunch of not used files.

The HTML generation is not "stable" the filenames can't be relied on to represent the same thing next time.

There seems to be little use to version control the HTML export as you can't compare two versions to each other in any usable way.

Geert

Well, I suppose this is a big bug  >:( I must use a version control because it is part of the CI/CD automation to publish the architecture website. This is a really bad one.

General Board / HTML Export creating new objects all the time
« on: October 20, 2020, 08:36:58 pm »
So, every time I export a model to HTML, even if I simply changed a note and nothing else, in GIT I end up with thousands of changes (which I can leave with) and a bunch of new objects and others that are deleted. This causes the website to grow exponentially unless I first delete all its content and then replace it with the new export, so it's a cumbersome waste of time that I hardly can justify.

Don't we have UUID for each object in the metamodel? How comes that they are not used to create unique objects when exporting the HTML?

Am I missing something here or there is a very big issue with the HTML exporter?

Hi Geert,

I just did that, thanks :)

I just submitted a bug report. The webform tells me that a copy of my support request has also been sent to my email address but I've received nothing, same as per a previous bug I submitted last week. And no, nothing in spam either :D

... Importing Visual Studio projects is now built-in feature with Enterprise Architect and supports the current versions of Visual Studio. The MDG Integration for Visual Studio add-in (which is what I assume you were looking at) is no longer required...
Hi @Aaron,
As Michael pointed out, in the Compare Edition clearly states that VS Integration is not available below Unified. BTW, I can confirm that it doesn't work: it only retrieves the solution's tree but no .cs files at all. I end up with this tree in EA:

What am I missing here?

I got the Unified version without noticing that Visual Studio support goes up to VS2013... who uses that any longer? What's the point?  :-X

Is there any plan to support the current version of Visual Studio?

Hi Geert,

I'm not into web stuff either, which is why I'm asking here  :)

This is the behaviour in EA that I'd like to have in the generated HTML as well: https://i.gyazo.com/7116051658a3d3fe61568211b9c8cb14.mp4

Hi Geert,

I', referring at the way it works in EA: when you click on the navigation cell the referred content is presented as a pop-up, so you can use this as a quick look to a different diagram (an ArchiMate legend in my case). The HTML report works differently: one clicks on the cell and the frame is fully replaced by the content pointed at by the navigation cell, which is not what I need. The way it works in EA is just perfect, if only it could work the same way in the generated HTML.

Hi all,

Navigation cells are nice, but I really need to have them behave in HTML as they behave in EA: is there any way to achieve that?

Thanks,
Pino
