Aw, where should I start my rant about that so-called database then?? If there were a chance I'd go for a visit to Australia I likely should have a bullet proof vest. It won't happen and I really do no longer care.

The spiders, snakes, or beer would likely kill you before you needed to rely on a vest. :-)

Sounds like you should report that to Spark.  It also sounds like one of the things one of the Sparxians mentioned being a known bug recently.

But I don't know how to effectively use Enterprise Architect. For example, when I start new use case diagram and I use same actors as in the previous use case diagram, I drop new actors from the toolbox list. Is there a way to create list of actors for a project and use these actors on all diagrams(so I don't drop and rename new actors on each diagram)? So then later on when I want to change the name for that actor, I can change name of that actor in the list, and it will be changed everywhere in all diagrams at once, so I don't have to go through every diagram and change it by hand.

Well the answer to your question would seem to be the Project Browser.  The first thing I recommend you do is find the Perspectives menu item and experiment with a layout that works for you.  The second thing would be to have a look at how you are storing your content.  Maybe have a look in the example project at the examples for the technologies you are using.

The Windows Installer repair tool is now a wizard on a web page.  If you can find it you should be able to flush out the cache installers and may be fix your problem.

Sure, but is it still ArchiMate then?

Or more to the point will that cause issues with the weird ArchiMate shapescript?  (Actually I suspect the user is using a UML association between two ArchiMate elements).

General Board / Re: Import of large model from an external source

Yes we have some data architects using power designer to create conceptual, logical and physical models and I'd like to import into Sparx EA to map the various behaviour elements.
I understand they are .cdm, ldm, pdm formats.

I wouldn't consider the PowerDesigner conceptual and logical models to anyway similar to those types of models you'd create in EA.

An association would be the most appropriate but ArchiMate doesn't give you the option of having directional arrows for an association.

Does anyone have a solution for this?
I need a possibility to import baselines programmatically from an other project (database) in order to merge models finally.
Thanks to any hint.

Bugs and Issues / Re: Reporting Bugs/Features best practice.

I'm doing the same.
But just out of curiosity: what is a purpose of Bugs and Issues subforum then?

Some times it's useful to have another member confirm the behaviour you are seeing.

Yes, we use all of those in our Shapescripts.  I was after Text Rotation which would be REALLY useful in our presentation diagrams.

That makes sense to me.  Implement all your new features.  Take a stock take of the defects and see which ones still exist and target x.1 or x.2 to address them.  The new features may replace components with defects.  Why create yourself a regression testing nightmare.

Be aware, which you may well be, that it's not so much "moving diagrams" from Viso to EA. In EA, you are developing a model and diagrams reflect the relationships in the model. If you have three Visio diagrams and each has a block representing a car, for example, and you simply redraw those three diagrams in EA you will end up with three "car" elements in the model. You want probably just want one "car" element and three diagrams that show different views of the relationships of the "car" element and other elements.

The car you have now, and the car you imagine you'll have in the future are two different cars.  Or maybe three or four.

SVG would seem to be the logical choice for a scalable vector graphical icon set. It was invented for that purpose.
Being able to SVGs, and even better, SVG templates for elements, icons, and embedding in reports would be my +100!

If you search the forum you'll find one of the Sparxians telling me that wouldn't work.

Dropbox might be worth a look.

Some organisations block access to dropbox.

I'm pretty anal
Hm. What kind of Freudian slip is that?
Unfortunately, probably not a slip. It's a relatively common saying which apparently covers the full width of Australia. I can think of at least two similarly themed phrases for the same sort of thing. I do not want to know the etymology for any of them.

Qwerty alluded to the etymology of phrase.  The irony is that if Paolo was what he claimed, he would have used the more correct term "pedantic".
