Bug description: Bug in Browser (Project) – last tree item is not selectable with the mouse when horizontal scroll bar is active.

Bug reproduction:

1)   Open EAExample project.

2)   Select the root node in the Browser / Project.
        All following actions should be done via mouse.

3)   Open the nodes til the horizontal scroll bar appears.
For example, open the nodes: Domain Specific Modeling; BPMN; E-mail voting Example (this is an example of the nodes list that reproduces the needed conditions for me; it depends on the screen resolution and Browser window size).

4)   Scroll the project tree down so that the node “Pro Cloud Server” gets visible.

5)   Try to select the node “Pro Cloud Server” with the mouse pointer. For me it does not function.

Note that the last item is still selectable with the keyboard.

   Screen resolution: 1920x1080
   Windows 7 Pro
   EA v15.0.1507
   The EA window is maximized

Bug reported.

Best regards

Bugs and Issues / Re: EA14: Dropdown list scroll bars not working
« on: May 25, 2018, 06:05:37 pm »
EA Build 14.0.1420
Win 10 10.0.16299

Several dropdown lists don't function correctly with the mouse.
- Scroll bar ignores mouse clicks and drags (ie drag on bar, click on end arrows, click on bar all ignored, bar doesn't move)

Speciifc repeatable examples: Element Change Type, ...

EA Build 14.0.1420
Windows 7 64

Can't reproduce the bug.

As soon as the mouse is moved off the slider the status bar gets updated.
Ok, I found the problem. The option "Show Tips in Status Bar" is deactivated (with me). Therefore the mouse cursor movement does not affect the status bar.

It means, change of zoom (via either Pan&Zoom slider or change "Persistent Zoom" setting) does actually not update the Zoom View on the status bar. Only if some side effect (e.g., status bar updating with the activated option "Show Tips in Status Bar") forces this update, it hides the bug.

Persistent zoom is available from EA 13.
Layout > Diagram > Persistent Zoom .

Please have a look Pan and Zoom

I did mean the option to save an arbitrary zoom level, not only one from the fixed set {75, 100, 150, 200}%.

The zoom on the status bar is a personal zoom level that applies to all diagrams.
The zoom slider on the right of the status bar is a user preference that is additional to the other zoom controls. If you have a small monitor, you may want all your diagrams to be zoomed out - move the slider to the left. If you have poor eyesight, you may want all your diagrams to be zoomed in - move the slider to the right. This does not affect the way other people see the diagrams, it just redefines (for yourself only) what 100% zoom looks like.
Thank you for clarification. :) I should read user manual.

Has the option "Preference / Diagram / Zoom to best scale" no effect?

The zoom on the Pan & Zoom and Ctrl+mouse wheel allow you to temporarily zoom on the current diagram.
If these two User Controls have the same effect, I suppose, they both should affect the zoom percent view (on the left of the status bar) equally. The Pan&Zoom slider doesn't affect it.

There is at least two controls which let change the (diagram) zoom: the slider at bottom right of the screen and the slider in the Pan & Zoom View. They are not synchronized (see also,31160.msg225636.html#msg225636). Also they do not change when a diagram will be zoomed via Ctrl + Mouse Wheel.

The view element that shows current zoom in the status line changes only when a diagram will be zoomed via Ctrl + Mouse Wheel, but does not change on zoom via sliders.

Nice to have:
  • Save currently set zoom as persistent zoom.
  • Set an arbitrary zoom (probably restricted to an reasonable range).

I faced the same problem. The workaround I use:
1. Assign a special tag to all relevant entities (of different types).
2. Create an user search that finds all items by this tag
3. Use the search as Source/Target in the relationship matrix.

Bugs and Issues / Re: 1303: "lock" doesn't lock Text or Boundaries?
« on: August 11, 2016, 10:06:26 pm »
So where do you get 1303.  I've just downloaded the latest from the link and it says V 13.0.1302.52 vs 13.0.1302.52
Looks like Paolo has the older version (13.0.0 vs 13.0.1302)

To clarify...

EA reports 13.0.1303.  The executable (within the details tab) shows

To obscure... ;)

  • Installer EA130_Reg.msi (properties/details) reports: 13.0.1302.52, created on 21.07.2016 01:08
  • Installed EA.exe (properties/details) reports:
  • Running EA (Start/Help/About EA) reports: 13.0.1303 (Build 1303).

So it's definitely 13.0.x.x :)

Some dialogs, especially with variable part(s) (e.g., long strings or lists) have fixed size. It's out-of-date.

General Board / Re: Document a package reference
« on: January 23, 2013, 01:38:00 am »
 |->Package1 <-- documenting only this complete package works fine
 |     |->Elements
 |     |->Package2
 |     |     |->Elements
 |     |->Package3
 |     |->Elements
 |     |->Package5

I have a package with some child packages.
Now, what I like to do is to document Package4 like it was a child package of Package3, but I do not want to move or copy the package to avoid modeling things twice.
So something like a reference from package3 to Package4 or something?

Anyone any ideas?

Thanx in advance
The existing package reference shown on your tree does model a "containing relation" only:
  • RootPackage2 does contain Package4;

RootPackage2 does NOT contain Package3.
[/list]So Package3 cannot contain Package4 and vice versa.

In other words, the relation "package is contained in" is the same as "package is child of". What do you want is obviously to model some other kind of relation. What is a matter of?

General Board / Features visibility and class inheritance
« on: January 23, 2013, 12:39:45 am »
Class D is derived from the class B. I want to show selected operations of the class D on a class diagram; e.g., one operation of the class D and one inherited operation of the class B - both operations within one visible item represents class D. I want avoid to show class B on the diagram.

There are following problems:
1. The dialog "Supress Features in Diagramm" shows the features of the class D only, I cannot select desired operations of the class B.
2. I can activate checkbox "Inherited Featues/Show Operations" but it has no effect if custom Operation Visibility selected.

Do someone know how to solve these problems? TIA

General Board / Re: Modeling Use Case Trigger and Issue

I Added Issue Element from Common tools in Use Case Diagram and created relationship but I cannot publish them in the RTF documentation. How do I do it?
You can create your own Document Template, then edit it and activate using of the Package/Element/Connector. An Issue is an Element too, it will be publisched as any other Package's Element.

Bugs and Issues / Re: EA10 - Note pane covered by grey area
« on: January 17, 2013, 07:34:45 am »
EA10 on a vmware machine XP (SP3) running on top of a Win7 Pro.

By the way, I noticed that when I resized the note pane (making it lower) the grey area remained in size, but, the grey color was replaced by what I had in the backgrund right then (a diagram), which I realized when I resized it to bigger size again.

// Rolf Lampa
It's either something very simple or conjunction of many circumstances. I use EA10 on (real) XP SP3 and have tried on VmWare Win7 on top of Win7 (not just you have) - I have never seen such visual effects. I would guess, it's a problem of VM video driver or VmWare Tools. Have you tried EA on the physical machine directly?

Testing EA10: The Note pane is covered by a grey area to the upper left...
Note pane in the "Properties" dialog? Or in the floating/dockable view? Note of what element?

Could you publish a screenshot?

(square, 5x5 inches or so)
All visible objects on the computer monitor have the size measured in pixel. Inches size depends of your monitor size and is unfortunately hardly informative.
