Bugs and Issues / Re: Diagram cx/cy vs diagram size
« on: May 07, 2020, 09:51:44 pm »
Well, it just looks like it reflects the pixel size for vertical paper orientation (A4 would be 791/1134 square px). Changing the paper also changes the px. But moving elements outside does not change anything.

(only a rough first test)

I looked into a repo and found most of them being 791/1134 so some "default minimum" but definitely not the used amount. EA's rendering ever since has been some voodoo where you could not realy look behind. Probably you just can't trust those numbers. However, I'll investigate a bit.

My Inside tells me: Number of pixels in X-direction used at maximum (and y respectively). No guarantee for truth, though.

For your case: bug report.

Or basically you can stick to Wittgenstein's  Tractatus logico-philosophicus.

This is a post from 2007. It's not a zombie. It's dead.

Who knows? For the fun I added that attribute to an existing connector in a profile. And nothing changed. Of course no complaints from EA. The connector seems to behave normally. I added some randomly named attribute and that also made no difference.

Did you think about creating your own requirement element? Adding useful stuff to tags. Along with MOSCOW (or whatever you prefer).

I'm using Parallels ever since. I once got EA under wine to work (pre Catalina). It worked. Somehow. But a bit creepy. Parallels keeps the Jinn in an extra bottle. I also tried other VM solutions (also pre Catalina; no recommendations) and my old machine could not cope with Docker. I might give that a try later again.

Sparx is a UML tool.  If you are not going to draw UML diagrams, I recommend Powerpoint....
Sparx is a company and EA is an UML tool ;-) But basically yes, the OP should look at Visio and Powerpoint.

I just read the German Wiki about requirements (it's German in any way in contrast to the English Wiki entry) https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anforderung_(Informatik). It's a good read, if you can read it.

That leaves me with a question mark. UML allows to extend its provided metaclasses via stereotypes in profiles. Of course these stereotypes are not present but must be defined by people using UML. So not sure what you were looking for.

The QL basically is a neat idea. But Sparx implementation of it is a dissaster. Just take a look into the table they use in the EA V13.5 exe file (it's a HUGE table). Even smaller tables are a nightmare to maintain and you can't configure them when you like to override standard UML definitions. From what I read here about V15: I avoid getting my hands dirty as long as possible. I still use EA, but only because there is nothing else. It's not the one-eyed amongst the blind any more (to me) but the one that shouts the loudest. Or simply it's the one I worked with most of the time since using UML tools.

I think that the "strict UML syntax" flag is not recognized by the QL. You probably should think over what you're doing and introduce a stereotype "<<nested>>" association defined in your profile instead of misusing the UML nest connector.

Bugs and Issues / Re: Nesting connector missing

When using a nesting relation from the package toolbox the user preferences must be changed.

On the preferences link page "Strict Connector Syntax" must be unckecked.

Because as KP mentioned it's not meant for classes. The UML metamodel has a couple of such connector contraints.

Rather broad your question is.

Open the example model (from the help menu) and browse through it. It might give you some hints.
