General Board / Re: Excel Import

Hello TZ,

When you say publish? Do you want to share the model for getting review comments or just for review?

They are mulitple ways to do it.

As Takeshi mentioned model sharing via Pro Cloud Server or Prolaborate are more effective for model discussion.

To publish the model with team the you can also try EA HTML report. With the help of scheduler we can even automate this process

If you have an ultimate license you can try MDG Office you can export exiting info from EA along with GUIDs do a lookup and import again to Sync.

Also try CSV importer. Again Same Export(ALONG WITH guid) and Import TO SYNC(Replace names)

You can do this using a simple script Refer Sample Scripts In Menu Code|Scripting|Local scripts But not from .csv file

To Answer the 3rd point yes
After creating a self message draw a message connector to parent or other object. You will find an icon say raise activation level on the source point of connector

Hello Uffe, how about  project template package. Create requirement from toolbox also will have a tagged value you wish to have.

With the combination of  MDG Office Intergration and scripting you can do it in few minutes.

Check MDG office integration https://sparxsystems.com.au/products/mdg/int/office/office-integration.html. you can avail a trial license

Then with script you create a diagram for each component/interface
Refer Scripting window Local scripts - Manage Diagrams Example (testElement.Diagrams.AddNew("My Logical Diagram", "Logical") to add a digram

P.S
If you need to make element composite - testElement.IsComposite = true
Set diagram guid to element - testElement.SetCompositeDiagram(Dia GUID)

General Board / Re: How to create / design completely new elements for EA?
« on: February 09, 2018, 03:33:23 pm »
Do I understand it correct that the EA uses the UML as base for any of the listed technologies?
Yes you are right. Take any extended element remove its stereotype you can identify its base type

At least XML is used to describe everything while exporting it.
Yes XML you generate contains all the information about technologies. toolbox, element, shapescript, tagged values and stereotypes and more

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Re: Update tag value
« on: February 08, 2018, 10:52:10 pm »
I have used the below syntax for some of tag updates never had any issue

if tag.Name = "eventDefinition" then
tag.Value = "Link"
tag.Update
eaElem.TaggedValues.Refresh
End If

Hi Soren,

I frequently use MDG office excel to import/update values from excel. I have never seen such case.

And do you mean after second time import your elements missing in diagram as well?

I beleive the elements are moved to another package imported newly. If it shown in diagram it will be in the project browser select element in diagram and press Alt+G to locate in project browser

General Board / Re: need help for report template setup

Hello,

As I noticed the place you have positioned your fragment itself wont work in this case. Even without the fragment you will get the same output.
Second key point is as you mentioned your sub process are kept in a separate package the only way to get the sub process is via diagrams (if there is no chance for connector usually we wont have)

here you can use Document Script(option in fragment) to print what you are expecting

Refer the link Geert mentioned also you can refer my sample model from this link http://bit.ly/2DiBohE to that will be useful in this scenario

On the bottom of the Insert Related items window you will find an option "Layout diagram when complete" uncheck the option

General Board / Re: Displaying tags on connectors
« on: February 06, 2018, 03:55:56 pm »
yes it is possible using Shape Scripts as Qwerty mentioned.
But rather than displaying tag name on connector I would suggest to go with change colors of connectors based on tag value.
Displaying Values on connector makes the diagram messy.

Nabil

There is a feature called template package but the problem is you cannot use it for extending BPMN stereotype. Only option to create a profile extending BPMN ELEMENTS
