The specification manager is a good feature to enrich the model with explaining text.
Currently either one specific item type or any item type can be edited.

However it would be more useful if it would be possible to select several but not any item type to be shown. Further on also packages can have textual descriptions and currently there is no way to maintain this package notes by using the specification manager.

General Board / Re: Relationship Matrix Notes
« on: January 29, 2016, 11:34:40 pm »
I am not 100% sure, but I think there is not such a feature in EA. What you can do, is e.g. double-click on a source or target item in the matrix to get the Notes view updated.

As far as I know, showing arrows in pins is optional according OMG and EA is just not supporting this option. I also miss this feature somehow. Post it maybe in the Suggestions and Requests forum.

As stated by Sparx, this bug is scheduled to be fixed in V13. :)

In a template fragment I call a custom script method and after generating a document all works fine.

When I use the templates and scripts in a published MDG, the script seems to be not called at all.

What I realized (when using the MDG) is, that in the “Custom Query” tab of the template fragment the method call is there but the script containing the file is not selected in the form.

Any idea to get this problem solved?

Bugs and Issues / Re: Subversion checkout not working
« on: January 21, 2016, 06:58:08 pm »
This is a problem I had when trying to switch from SVN 1.7 to 1.9. Neither upgrade nor clean up of the working copy solved the problem.
The workaround I used was creating a new EA project from scratch and checking out the data anew with SVN 1.9.

General Board / Re: IBD - How to add ports?

Ok in this case select the port property under your frame block and drag it as link to the frame.

This is what I typpically do:

I add ports to the block either in a BDD or just in the Project Browser.
When I use the block e.g. as a part/port in and other block or just as a top level block in an IBD, I stelect the item and press "Structural Elements..." and click on "Show Owned/Inherited". After that I select the ports/parts I want to have on the diagram.

Typically I press "Advanced/Show Element Type" afterwards.

Bugs and Issues / Re: Call Behaviour Action Pins
« on: January 19, 2016, 10:13:35 pm »
This is a bug introduced in the early V12.1 alpha/beta versions. See also http://sparxsystems.com/forums/smf/index.php/topic,11104.0.html.
I reported the bug in October last year when V12.1 was in Beta. I personaly did not belief that V12.1 will be released with this bug in UML standard diagrams, but it is released and it is also there in today's release (build 1226).
For me personaly this is a show stopper for V12.1, because I have lots of activity diagrams which are not understandable without displayed types of action pins.
If you have problems with that, I recommend you to remain on V12.

Generated documents typically require meta data to be inserted also on cover pages and footers and footers.
With “Report  Constants” and “Project Constants” there is already some limited functionality available, however if e.g. document classification, document numbers, … are needed the templates have to be duplicated (what is a nightmare  when maintaining lots of documents).
Possible solutions:
Allow to call template fragments within cover pages, headers, footers that will really be executed.
Or
Allow to access tagged values (meta data of the report) from the report root package via  “Report Constants”  at any place in any kind of template.

Suggestions and Requests / Add Delete Linked Document in menu Element
« on: March 09, 2007, 08:03:06 am »
Problem:
Linked Documents to a packkage can currently only removed when the package is dropped of a diagramm. This is somehow cumbersomely.

Suggestions and Requests / TER based RTF generator Document Options
« on: May 23, 2006, 12:20:11 am »
I request to:
1) remove the control “Adjust Heading Levels”
2) promote any style (any 1, any 2, any 3) to nested model elements where a style is assigned to, and as header 1, header 2, …. should work (but does not)

Reasons
To 1:I belief you just took over this dialog from the old generator. However in the new generator you can define the depth of headers by style, list overrides and list numbering. Ones you have done this work, why you should switch it of afterwards?

To 2 By not only promoting header n to nested elements it would be possible e.g. to number generated figures = diagrams, tables … as well.

General Board / Re: Cloud Server / EAP FIles / Revision Control
« on: November 23, 2015, 07:41:42 pm »
Hello John,
I suppose, this is not possible. EAP is a MS Access database file and Access is not a C/S application. Theoretically to get it work you would need a MS-Access running on your server and something that makes your MS-Access answering to requests coming from outside, but I belief there is nothing like that on the cloud server.
