Keyboard shortcuts (e.g. for Appy/Release user lock)
« on: June 26, 2016, 05:26:44 pm »
Hi,

when working in a team, "apply/release user lock" for a diagram or element/package is an essential feature for me to work with. Unfortunately it is kind of hard to access - since I need it all the time. We worked with EA10 for years and hoped this will get better with EA12 (maybe a keyboard shortcut definition for this) - but now apply/release user lock is hidden in the submenu of "Package Control" which is a pain in the ***  :(

I would suggest to extend the keyboard shortcut functionality for some often used features as "apply/release user lock" is. To customize the keyboard shortcut for any functionality in EA would be awesome.

The "customize (Keyboard) menu" could tolerate a facelift as well :)

Yes, me too!

(For one client I've even build a button in an add-in window to lock/unlock)

Id like to second a request for a Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile version of StickyPassword. To be honest, part of the reason I still use LastPass is that theyve got a Windows Phone app, even through their whole applications UI is horrible.

Id love to see proper Windows Hello biometric support in there too, that would be great to have on both desktop and mobile.

Hi,

hoTools https://github.com/Helmut-Ortmann/EnterpriseArchitect_hoTools/wiki/hoTools supports Global Keys out of the box. You can configure:
  • Keys combinations
  • What happens (Search or Services)

Just define the Services in File, Settings, Global Keys :
  • Lock Package, e.g. F1+Ctrl
  • Unlock Package, e.g. F2+Ctrl
and restart EA.

If the keys aren't consumed by EA it's done. If they are consumed you have to find an available Key combination. The documentation (https://github.com/Helmut-Ortmann/EnterpriseArchitect_hoTools/wiki/Settings-Global-Keys) contains a list of free Key combinations.

It's open software and free.

You may also configure a Toolbar (https://github.com/Helmut-Ortmann/EnterpriseArchitect_hoTools/wiki/Toolbar) in hoTools to do the same.

Currently I'm thinking about to support EA Scripts (VBScript, JavaScript, JScript). Then you can easily define and use your own Services. All without installation. Thanks to Geert who developed the great Script infrastructure.

Kind regards,

Helmut
