Feature request: Note lists indentation
« on: November 20, 2009, 09:49:40 am »
I have today submitted a modest (blush) feature request, your support (votes) welcome.

Details:

In the notes field add support for indented (hierarchies) of bulleted and numbered lists

Steps to Reproduce:

I'd like to see indentation icons added to support the formatting options of notes so that we see

The problem here is likely another design flaw in EA. They use an internal format which they transfer to HTML and RTF. Of course this will never work correctly for any kind text. Having simple but W3C HTML and nothing else would save a lot trouble. Sparx will not dare, you know.

Wow. A post from one of my elder accounts. It's getting historic.

Sadly, this pattern is a pattern experienced many times with this product. The company exhibits a couldn't-be-bothered attitude toward users (sure log those feature requests or bug requests, not gonna help one bit).

The advice on this has always been that if you want multiple list levels you need to use a linked document.

As much as I'd like to give you better news. This was explicitly rejected as a requirement when formatted notes were first implemented, and as far as I know there hasn't been any traction to change that.

Fair enough. From your POV. But from the customer perspective: Yes, why listen to a customer if the developer knows it better?

On the other hand, I understand that you can't implement every feature a random user asks for.
Otherwise you would end up with crazy things like chat and email functionality inside a (UML) modelling tool ;D
