Hello

I have currently been tasking with transferring all data from IBM SA to Sparx EA at my company. Has anyone done this before what importing and exporting method did you use? in addition what repository was used as I know GIT doesn't work with Sparx? Sorry this might be a bit vague I am new to all of this and it's my first project as a Business analyst. Any help would be great

Thanks

Rich

You'll have to use xmi export/import in order to migrate the models.

GIT (a version control system) doesn't work with EA since EA requires exclusive locks; a concept not known to GIT. You can use CSV, SVN, TFS, or any other system system that supports the SCC interface.

Unfortunately, I believe there currently isn't a migration path from System Architect.

It used to support exporting XMI 1.0 (ancient and really not good for transferring between tools)  but from the information available to me, when Unicom bought the product they removed even that functionality.

We are in early stages of investigation of the potential for importing the System Architect proprietary format. Unfortunately, I don't have any information available concerning the feasibility of that.

Hey all!
So, any info on this option would be awesome as I am in the SAME spot as the OP of this thread.

Difficult if the the source is a closed system by design.

Perhaps Simon M can give an update on the feasibility study to process RSA's proprietary format that he mentioned back in July?

Unfortunately, it's not something we can help with at this stage.

Another thread mentioned a third party conversion. I don't know how well it works, but it's worth investigating.
