Activity inside another Activity Streotype
« on: January 16, 2012, 04:23:39 pm »
Hi,

I need to create an streotype .This streotype is applicable to ACTIVITY element.

Upon applying this streotype , an ACTIVITY inside another ACTIVITY
should appear.

Is this possible with UML profile?

Thanks in advance
Sriram

Not possible, I'm afraid. Here's what I would do:

1. Create a stereotype for the activity in your profile and import the profile.
2. Create an activity diagram with a stereotyped activity which owns an activity. Save this diagram as a UML Pattern.
3. Create an MDG Technology which includes your profile and this new UML pattern.
4. Create a toolbox profile that defines a custom toolbox for your profile. Include the UML Pattern in this toolbox.
5. Add the toolbox profile to your MDG Technology.
6. Deploy the technology.

You will end up with a profile toolbox that allows you to drop two activities (one stereotyped, the other nested) in one go. All the instructions for the above are in the help file but if you get stuck, contact Sparx Support.

Hi Neil,
I was trying to do something similar. I created a profile with a package containing an element. When I drag that onto a diagram the browser shows a plus symbol in front of the package. But the element is placed on the same level as the package (i.e. outside the package). As soon as I select the package the plus symbol disappears. I guess this is a bug, not a feature?
