Who do what with an url connection
« on: April 04, 2019, 12:00:04 am »

If the connection is done via an url to the database instead of an odbc connection (with the use of a cloud service), can we still see who do what at database level or it is not possible to see that due to the fact that we only use a unique account for all connections to the database ?
Thanks in advance.

If you want to see it at the database level you'll have to make sure each user is logged into the database with his own user.
In a standard setup this is easily done using windows authentication, but I'm not sure how to configure this over cloud server. I suspect that it should be possible though.

If you are interested in this you might also want to look into auditing. That is done on the application level rather then database level, so it also works when you have a single database user.
