Construct view for a diagram?
« on: September 06, 2019, 11:32:57 pm »
When i select an element, i can see the construct items associated with it maintenance window.
When i select a diagram, i expect to see all of the construct items associated with the elements it contains in the maintenance window.

Is this an option i need to turn on? is there a search i need?

I'm not quite sure what you are expecting to see, but let's start with... what release are you on?

Probably he wants a list of all elements appearing in a diagram.

That could be done with a SQL, I guess.

Using EA 15.
Experimenting with the construct ribbon, i have assigned elements in a diagram maintenance tasks using the "Maintenance window" (Start->Share->Construct->Maintenance). This is with the idea that i can come back to the diagram later and pick up those tasks where they left off. There are two mechanisms in the UI to show these construct element tasks, are the "Maintenance window" (Start->Share->Construct->Maintenance), and the "Construct View" (Right-click Diagram Tab-> Switch to Construct View).
Neither of these is particularly useful, as one is focused on selected items with element properties, and the other is a mutually exclusive with the graphical view of the diagram.
What i was looking for was a way to see all of the "Maintenance window" tasks on a diagram while looking at the diagram.

Why wouldn't you just right click on the diagram and choose "View as List"?

Actually I thought of that but was unsure since I never use/needed that. So my escape was the other route. Which is the normal EA path...

I haven't yet tried to reconstruct your scenario, but off the top of my head - you can show the maintenance items of each element on a diagram in a compartment of the element. Or perhaps show the Inline Specification next to the diagram? (Right-click on the diagram, select the 'Switch View' option, select the last sub-option in the list).

With the Maintenance window open you can click on each element on the diagram and look at its Maintenance items in the Overview tab. Or have the Element tab of the Browser window open - too many mouse clicks?

How can i see the List view and the Graphical view of a diagram at the same time?

I want a list view of maintenance tasks for a diagram, that i can see beside the diagram. A find window alongside the diagram would also work.

You can't. However, if you have a query you can have open both the diagram and the query results.

If you want to see it as a permanent part of the diagram you could create a modelview for it.

Thanks, I'll start with the find query list.
