Element to attribute relationship in Matrix
« on: October 17, 2019, 09:32:51 pm »
Hello,
Is there any chance to create Matrix Specification that show Elements (Application) in one side and Attributes of Elements (Class) on the other side?

Thx for help.

No you can't do that. Matrix is only for Element <-> Element

Thx for answer.
I'm working on EA12 and I'm guessing that in EA15 something like "New and Improved "Feature to Feature" relationship Matrix and Management" also doesn't support "Element <-> Attribute".

So, I must go to "Suggestions" area :)

I don't think it is what you want, but this what EA does provide in Release 15.0:

I had a very similar problem. I wanted to trace class methods to a requirement. Unfortunately, as other mentioned, you can only trace to the element level i.e. class.

However, I am considering the option of tracing from the Activity specifying the method to the requirement itself.

Thx RoyC. Unfortunately, in this matrix the "Type" field cannot be set, for example: "Component" in Source and "Attributes" in Target.

Geert is correct, but if you are using an RDBMS repository nothing stops you from trying to achieve some similar with a SQL statement.

Thanks for the answers. I will try to create these relationships directly on the database.

It's in ver15, but maybe the Feature Matrix might work for you: Design > Element > Feature Matrix

Hope this helps,

The feature matrix as per build v15.0.1513 (Build 1513) allows you to create a matrix between 2 elements, on one element you could specify operations and on the other attributes.

There are a number of limitations:
  • It is an element to element matrix, unfortunately you cannot choose all elements in a package
  • It works well for Class elements, but it does not work for any element that does not have attributes, operations or receptions
P.S.: Not sure what receptions means in this context, I will need to decipher https://sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/14.0/model_domains/reception.html.
