Enhance already pasted dialogue to allow OK for all
« on: February 20, 2020, 02:43:03 pm »
(EA 15.1)
The error message "This diagram already contains an instance of the element you are trying to paste" pops up for EVERY element you may be trying to add.

It would be handy if, like other similar dialogues, there was an option to
  • OK for all
  • cancel - all further pasting

Now this is one to be fixed. Another one is doing it for multiple packages to be pasted. You have to click each single package without the choice "for all".

To clarify my request for the support team. I do not want more than one instance of an element on a diagram.
What I want to do is this.
When I add a large number of elements to a diagram (e.g. by dragging and dropping), some of which (e.g. 10 out of 50) may not currently be on the diagram,
I do not want to click OK for the elements that are already on the diagram.
What I want to do is, in common with similar dialogues in EA (or Windows for example),

is to be able to select (a new checkbox you are going to add) Do the same for all further elements and then click OK
or be able to click Cancel to exit the process.
thanks very much

oh yeah that can be a headache having to click ok button for each element.

As a work around: A useful feature I discovered under the Kanban options you can add elements to the diagram to avoid this repeated clicking of okay button.

From Diagram right click> Kanban>advanced>Add Package
Choose package(s)
Run Search.

This adds elements from selected package(s) and doesn't prompt with that dialog if the element is already on the diagram.
You can also run a custom SQL query too.

Cool  8) aye?

Happy to help
:)
