BPMN - Data Objects associated with a Sequence Flow
« on: June 03, 2020, 01:51:31 pm »
In the BPMN v2.0 specification, there is a figure (10.68) which depicts a Data Object associated with a Sequence Flow.  Is it possible to do this in EA?  I couldn't see how.  (I was expecting that maybe the Association Class technology might be used for this).

BTW, the specification seems to show the Association links (DataInputAssociation and DataOutputAssociation) as dotted lines whereas EA seems to depict them as dashed.  Is it just my eyes deceiving me?

TIA,
Paolo

I haven't found a way model the link between a data object an a sequence flow either.

(yes, the spec has dotted lines, but you weren't really asking were you?)

You might well think that I couldn't possibly say that.    ;)

I just tried in EA version 15.2 Beta and it worked, well sort of.

The quicklinker displayed the correct link (Association) on the menu, but failed to create the link (Invalid combination of source and target), but when using an Association from the toolbox, I achieved the desired result

All the best

Thanks Phil, I'll give it a go!

Did you report the defect (since we're still in Beta), or shall I - once I confirm?

I haven't reported it yet, since a new build came out yesterday and have not had chance to test on this build, so please go ahead and report this quicklink issue.

Thanks Phil

Well Phil,

in build 1552, I can't even get the QuickLinker to show the Association option.  Even with "Filter to Toolbox" Off, Association doesn't appear.

Can anyone confirm/deny this?
