Sparx Systems Cloud Service (Not Pro Cloud Service)
« on: August 04, 2021, 11:36:10 pm »
Good day.

I'm sorry, but I can't find a relevant answer anywhere, so I'll try it here.

Please, have any experience with running Sparx Systems Cloud Service (NOT PRO) v.2.1.21.0 on Windows Server 2019? Is such a solution supported?
The system service shows extreme instability and very often falls.
Thank you for answer.

Not that I have any idea about that, but you should probably contact Sparx support via mail in such a case.

Any reason why you don't want to update to PCS?

I don't know about Windows Server 2019 specifically, by the cloud service changed name in 2017. The old version would have never been run on an operating system dated two years later than its last update.

PCS does not have a free version (as far as I know) and our company has not released funds to purchase it.

SSCS is free and its functionalities are enough for us. When I built the same solution on Windows Server 2016 (in 2018), there was no negative experience with the service. Today I am in another company and I am building a new infrastructure.

And does it make sense? SSCS is probably an unsupported solution today if it has been replaced by PCS.
But I will try.

Support wrote me the following when asked.

Hello Martin,
Thanks for the email.
The legacy Cloud service is depreciated and no longer supported.
The legacy Sparx Systems Cloud Service (v2.1.21.0) wasn’t built or tested with Windows Server 2019.

However, the Free version of Pro Cloud Server offers the same functionalities that the older version of Cloud Service Offered.
Sparx Systems Pro Cloud Server (Free edition) offers the following...
•    http / https connectivity to the EA Repositories.
•    Create and manage Firebird projects.
•    Create and manage Reusable Assets Service (RAS)
•    Keystore service (Previously SSKeystore)

You can download the free edition of Pro Cloud Server via the following link...

If you have any further questions please let us know.
Best regards,

Allan Butt

Running SSCS is not a good idea and PCS can run unlicensed.

THX to all!
