UML Gates
« on: June 10, 2008, 12:57:49 am »

My question/request is about how is supported this UML feature on EA.

It seems to me that this UML feature is partially supported or at least in the practical way. When you create a Gate in a Sequence Diagram, EA should recognize the Gate when you drop the diagram as an Iteration Occurrence in other diagrams. In this kind of way, when you try to link a message against the Iteration Occurrence, it should pop up the messages supported by Gate/s illustrated inside of the Interaction Occurrence. This is not happening, and even there are a couple treads in this direction. Is this a bug or a partially implemented feature???

Regarding the Gates, I think Gates are an interesting thing and it would be very nice if they even could realize an interface. By this way, we could split up the Sequence Diagrams nicely in a hierarchically way and avoiding to clutter complicated diagrams too much. If you for instance, right click on the Gate element, and open the properties window and in somehow, indicate “Realize Interface…. X” and selecting the interface you want to realize with that Gate; well that would be awesome !!.

Cool idea.... but Sparx'ees seem to have their hands full, doing that for classes so, we should probably try and roll our own.

Some said that theres not enough info in sequence messages to do a code gen ( I think it says more about how he does his sequence diagrams than EA's innate ablity ).
