The User Interface Toolbox provides a wide range of icons that you can use to create User Interface diagrams.

Except where discussed here, each element and relationship that you can create using these Toolbox pages is described in the UML Elements and UML Connectors sections of the Help.

The Screen element represents the screen  or dialog frame in a graphical user interface. You can identify fields, delimiters and buttons on the screen using the different UI Control elements.

UI Control elements are different stereotyped elements defining controls such as buttons, fields and combo boxes. You arrange these on the Screen element, as part of a User Interface diagram, to define a screen or dialog in a user interface.

This diagram illustrates each type of UI Control element from the Toolbox, within a Screen element.

Notes

  • To add an element to the currently-open diagram, click on the appropriate icon and drag it into position on the diagram; set an element name and other properties as prompted
  • To add a relationship, click on the appropriate icon, then click on the start element in the diagram and drag to the end element
  • To place one UI Control object inside another (for example, adding fields or options to a Panel or Form), press Shift as you drag the object into place
  • You can add objects to the diagram and move them around, but once the object is within the boundary of a Screen element (or another UI Control element) you cannot move it out of that boundary on the diagram; you can move child elements between parents on the Project Browser
  • If you delete a Screen (or other parent element) on the diagram, all the UI Control elements it contains are also deleted from the diagram
